Like some municipalities in the country, the Municipality of Prizren has not forgiven the citizens' property tax. This is what the mayor of this municipality, Shaqir Totaj, told KosovaPress.

Even though the mayor Totaj submitted the law on property tax to the constitution, he says that the Court's decision is burdening and harming the municipalities.

The mayor of Prizren, Totaj, has accused the Government of interfering in the municipal finances.

While he says that he is not in favor of forgiving the property tax, he clarifies that this also disrupts the budget planning that could leave the municipality with minus 4 million euros in the budget.

We recall that in August of this year, the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo has sent to the Constitutional Court, the Law on real estate tax, which provides for the forgiveness of 100 euros of tax for citizens.

Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court has announced that it has decided that the municipalities must decide for themselves about the property tax forgiveness and that the Law contested by the municipalities is not in contradiction with the Law on Local Government. /E.Krasniqi/
