In January of this year, the Institute for the Treatment of Persons with Special Needs will be opened in the Correctional Center in Dubrava. This institute has capacity for 60 beds, while pavilion 7 will also be used for 20 elderly people. This is announced by the deputy director of the Correctional Service, Ismail Dibrani, who told KosovaPress that during this year the location for the new prison will be decided and two detention centers will be closed.

He also talks about the number of cases of prevention of smuggling in correctional institutions. According to him, during the year, family members and various companies have enabled prisoners to smuggle narcotics and cell phones into prisons.
