The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has welcomed the action of the Ombudsperson for sending the Law on salaries in the public sector to the Constitutional Court. From this party, they expect the Constitutional Court to overturn this law, which entered into force in February of this year.

The Ombudsperson had received 104 complaints from various subjects of the public sector regarding this law and therefore sent it to the Constitutional Court on Friday, with a request for an assessment of its compatibility with the Constitution. The received complaints were said to be mainly related to the reduction of the coefficients, thus the reduction of salaries, the removal of supplements or the inadequate and unequal treatment between the positions defined by law.

The member of the presidency of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Xhafer Tahiri, said that the Government of Kosovo not only failed to increase the salaries in the public sector, but did a great injustice to the workers of this sector through the Law on Salaries.
