The fight against corruption will bring Kosovo closer to the European Union (EU), so it was said at the round table with the topic "The impact of corruption on the integration of Kosovo in the European Union" that was held as part of the Anti-Corruption Week.

Also, at this round table it was said that Kosovo has made limited progress in the fight against corruption, institutions should increase transparency so that citizens have open access to information on how decisions are made and public money is spent.

The executive director of FOL movement, Mejhide Demolli, said that the influence of corruption in the negotiations for EU membership is visible and direct. According to her, it is essential that institutions increase transparency, that citizens have open access to information on how decisions are made and public money is spent.

Meanwhile, she added that international cooperation is the key, and according to her, Kosovo should work closely with the EU, the USA and international organizations to share the best practices against corruption.

Also, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Kosovo, Carin Lobbezoo, said that the fight against corruption will bring Kosovo closer to the European Union, for which she said that the institutions should work in this direction.

Meanwhile, the director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Yll Buleshkaj said that this institution is working in this direction, adding that they have made progress and are in a positive trend in the fight against and prevention of corruption.

Meanwhile, Burbuqe Kastrati from FOL Movement has presented a research done with citizens in this field, who said that according to some responses of citizens, the economy and justice are seen as two areas where Kosovo is farthest in relation to the member states.

Kastrati also stated that from the findings of the research they have conducted with citizens in 38 municipalities, some of the challenges that citizens consider that affect Kosovo's path to the EU are non-recognition by the five EU member states, non-normalization of relations with Serbia, and that the EU is not sufficiently interested in Kosovo becoming its member. /E.
