The Council of Ministers of the European Union today gave the green light for visa liberalization for Kosovo.

The new rules will allow citizens of Kosovo to travel to the EU without visas for a period of stay of 90 days in any 180-day period. This will apply from the date the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) comes into operation or from 1 January 2024.

The new rules must now be approved by the European Parliament before being signed and published in the EU's official journal.
