229,803 voters or 26.35 percent of the citizens voted in the presidential elections in North Macedonia until 13:00, announced the State Election Commission (SEC).

At the next conference, the chairman of the SEC, Aleksandar Dashtevski, said that the election process is going well, despite some minor technical delays.

The citizens of North Macedonia today decide in the first round for their future president. This is the seventh presidential election, while the possible second round will be held together with the parliamentary elections on May 8.

Polling stations opened at 7:00 and will close at 19:00. Voting takes place in 3480 polling stations throughout North Macedonia. Meanwhile, the total number of registered voters is 1,814,317.

The opposition VMRO DPMNE will compete in the elections with the current MP Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. The ruling Social Democratic League will compete with the current president, Stevo Pendarovski. In the election race, the Democratic Union for Integration will compete with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani, while the united Albanian opposition will compete with Arben Taravar, the current mayor of Gostivar. Maksim Dimitrievski, the mayor of Kumanova, Stevçe Jakimovski, the mayor of Karposh in Skopje and Biljana Vankovska, candidate of the "Left" party, are also part of the election race. /E.Zeqiri/
