The census scheduled for September is required to be postponed to 2022
The process of population, houses and household census in Kosovo, scheduled to take place in September this year, is being requested to be postponed to 2022. This is due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the holding of elections. Leaders of the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), say that the census that costs about 11 million euros should have started in April 2021, but that has been postponed to September this year, reports KosovaPress.
Although, even September, for the Deputy Chairman of KAS, Ilir Berisha is inappropriate, because as he says the local elections and especially the Covid-19 pandemic, has influenced the institutional request to postpone the registration for April 2022. Berisha says in an interview for KosovaPress, that based on the recommendations of the statistics of the United Nations Eurostat and to have a successful census, another period is required due to the pandemic conditions, which affects the quality of the population census.
