The Chamber of Doing Business in Kosovo (CDBK) has addressed a letter to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, for the abolition of the phytosanitary certificate tax, which businesses are obliged to pay to the Food and Veterinary Agency, in case of export of food products, and the reduction of other taxes by the FVA by at least 50%.

Recently, Kosovo's exports of food products have increased, so the creation of facilities in this regard, would make our products in international markets come out with more competitive prices. Different countries offer policies and subsidies of various kinds for local products which are intended for export, which the Chamber of Doing Business in Kosovo is continuously seeking. Creating facilities for local exporters would help eliminate bureaucratic procedures, and at least to reduce as much as possible some unnecessary taxes, which are charged to the latter, given the very small export that we have compared to imports. We recall that the phytosanitary service has the largest number of activities within the FVA. In addition to the duties and obligations defined by law, the Phyto-Sanitary Inspection controls and inspects all food and non-food items that are included in Decision no. 01-932/2015 of FVA. Therefore, we consider that the abolition of the tax for these services for economic operators who export their products to other countries, would help, thus providing support for domestic exports. For information, for every export of a truck abroad, the business is obliged to pay an export tax of 40 euros to the FVA.
