Two farms in the municipality of Shterpce are suspected of being affected by an animal disease known as "blue tongue". This was confirmed for KosovaPress by the spokesperson of the Food and Veterinary Agency, Lamir Thaçi. This disease can not be transmitted to humans, while animals can be infected from mosquitoes and ticks, but nevertheless the meat of animals affected by this disease should not be consumed.
