The National Audit Office has found a significant number of violations in the financing of sports federations by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, especially in the process of benefiting from the Law on Sponsorship, as well as the financial support of sports federations directly by MCYS.

Revealing the data from the report, the member of the Committee for Oversight of Public Finances, Mirlinda Tishukaj-Sadiku, said that the Audit Office has determined that the state budget has been damaged by more than 1.5 million euros from the omissions in these two processes.

The minister of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, agreed with these findings. During the meeting of the committee, he said that even from the side of the ministry that he leads, a process has already been started that aims to investigate some suspicions of misuse of the Law on Sponsorship and that the Kosovo Police is already dealing with this issue. As for the direct funding of the federations, Çeku said that this is being done based on the process for the categorization of the federations.

Meanwhile, the director of TAK, Ilir Myrtezaj, stated that there are already several cases when companies have been forced to return the money they have not paid as tax, being covered by the Law on Sponsorship.
