The announcement of the Government of Kosovo that they will apply for the status of the country as a candidate for membership in the European Union, in the middle of December, has prompted the reaction of opposition parties and those familiar with European integration. They ask the executive to have a proper consultation with the member countries in advance, since obtaining the candidate status is a process that lasts for years. On the other hand, the government cabinet says that they are in full coordination with international allies for the submission of the application.

The deputy chairperson of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Shqipe Mjekiqi, tells KosovaPress that before the application, the Government must show that there is will within the EU to accept this application of Kosovo.
