Kosovo Police, through units of the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption, has launched an investigation after receiving information about suspected abuse of official position by a now-suspected official in Kaçanik.

According to the police, the suspect is alleged to have, by using his official duty or authority, in addition to the regular documentation for a building permit, requested additional documents (projects) from the victim, which he was supposed to complete himself, in exchange for a payment of over 600 euros to a private geodetic company.

“After the victim obtained the permit, he noticed that the documents for which he had made the payment were not included in the file, and he then reported the case to the Police,” the statement reads.

It further states that police investigators, upon learning about the case, undertook all necessary investigative and operational actions and, as a result, in full coordination with the case prosecutor at the Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj, today in the presence of the defense lawyer, interviewed the suspect on suspicion of the criminal offense “Abuse of Official Position or Authority” under Article 414 of the Criminal Code of Kosovo.

After the interview, the suspect was detained for 48 hours by decision of the prosecutor.
