The European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, before the start of the Summit of Western Balkan and EU leaders, stated that this meeting is the continuation of the one they had in Tirana, where the possibility of the growth plan was discussed.

According to him, the growth plan is a reality.

The leaders of the countries of the region, representatives of the European Union and the United States of America, will discuss the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.

The summit is being held under the slogan "One region, common vision". Commissioner Varhelyi and Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, O'Brien, are also participating in the meeting of regional leaders. The Growth Plan includes six billion euros in grants and loans to accelerate socio-economic convergence with the EU - two billion in grants and four billion in soft loans guaranteed by the EU.
