The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports has published the new categorization list of sports federations for this year, where 37 federations have been ranked into four categories — A, B, C, and D — based on the points collected according to criteria set out in the regulation. Out of the 55 federations that are part of the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, only those licensed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports have undergone the process and benefit from financial support from the state budget.

In Category A this year are ranked: the Kosovo Judo Federation, which leads with 115.26 points; the Kosovo Karate Federation with 97.5 points; the Kosovo Volleyball Federation with 88 points; the Kosovo Handball Federation with 87.8 points; as well as the Football Federation of Kosovo with 85.5 points and the Basketball Federation of Kosovo with 85.3 points — the latter two having returned from Category B to the highest level.

The other federations have been placed in Categories B, C, and D, depending on the evaluation of the respective commission. According to the regulation signed on December 30, 2022, the authority for categorization belongs to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, whereas previously this process was carried out by the Olympic Committee of Kosovo. The document emphasizes that federations have the right to appeal within five days to the MKRS Appeals Commission. The new categorization is expected to directly affect the allocation of funds and institutional support for federations during this year.
