Sport gets its own ministry in Kosovo
In the new Government of the Republic of Kosovo, sport is for the first time being treated as a separate ministry, established as an independent portfolio. The Ministry of Sport will be led by Blerim Gashani.
His appointment comes at an important moment for Kosovo sport, which faces a significant need for investment in sports infrastructure, capacity development, and stronger support for young talents. The challenge becomes even greater given that Kosovo will host the Mediterranean Games in 2030, a major international event expected to bring substantial investments in sports infrastructure.
The creation of the Ministry of Sport is considered a new institutional step for Kosovo sport, on the eve of a decisive decade that will culminate in the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games.
