With yoga and various outdoor activities in the Pristina City Park, the Olympic Committee of Kosovo (KOK) marked the Day of Sport and Environment. An Olympic tree was also planted there.

On this occasion, the president of KOK, Ismet Krasniqi, said that without a clean environment, there is no sport.

Krasniqi called on citizens to raise awareness and protect the environment.

Let us remember that without a clean environment, there is no sport. We, as KOK, have previously organized different activities like this every year, and they are growing bigger. This is the breath of sport because sport and environment are closely linked. We need to raise awareness among all people to protect the environment and invest in it. It’s a small but very important step,” said Krasniqi.

Meanwhile, the member of the organizing committee, Teuta Beselica, explained today’s activities.

“As a committee, we have tried to raise some awareness about the importance of a clean environment for all athletes. We have placed recycling bins within the KOK premises, planted greenery, and will hold a small yoga session. I hope this raises awareness about the importance of a clean environment because the world faces environmental challenges, especially here in Kosovo, where we have big problems; in winter, our air is among the most polluted in the world,” added Beselica.

The director of parks, Donika Qeta, said that as a municipality, they are contributing to the health of citizens as well as future generations.

“Alongside sport, the environment is inseparable. Today, on the World Day of Sport and Environment, as a municipality together with the sports federation, we will implement the planting of the Olympic tree. We are contributing to our health but also to the generations to come. Let this day be a call to always care for the environment so we can leave a better quality life to the coming generations,” said Qeta.
