The Special Intervention Unit (NJSI) and the Kosova Police Union will today hold a protest in front of the Kosovo Government building, starting at 12:00.

The Kosova Police Union has confirmed that their demands will be made known during the protest.

Members of the Special Intervention Unit, the most elite unit of the Kosova Police, protested in front of the Kosovo Government building on November 1, demanding a change in the categorization of jobs and increase their danger pay allowances.

Another protest was announced for November 7, 2023, but the police suspended it temporarily, after Prime Minister Albin Kurti promised them an official meeting to discuss their demands and find a solution.

NJSI representatives met with Kurti in mid-November, but did not reach an agreement because the head of the executive refused to withdraw from his position in relation to their demands.

According to the Government's proposal, the allowances for the NJSI are around 150 euros, whereas in the request the police officers said that it should be set at 50 percent of the basic salary and there should be allowances for specific working conditions.
