Shooting in Peja, suspect detained for 48 hours

The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja has announced that a person suspected in connection with the shooting incident that occurred last night in Peja, in which one person was injured, has been detained for 48 hours.

According to the Prosecution, by order of the State Prosecutor, the suspect with the initials B.K. has been detained under the grounded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of “Attempted Murder”, in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Prosecution stated that immediately after receiving information about the case, the State Prosecutor, relevant units of the Kosovo Police, and forensic teams arrived at the scene, where they undertook the necessary investigative and procedural actions.

During the examination of the crime scene, material evidence was secured, which will serve in the criminal proceedings.

The State Prosecutor is also expected to submit a request to the competent court within the legal deadline for imposing detention on remand against the suspect.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Peja has stated that, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, it continues to undertake the necessary investigative actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the case and secure evidence for further criminal proceedings.
