The Democratic Party of Kosovo’s candidate for mayor of South Mitrovica, Arian Tahiri, exercised his right to vote and called on the citizens of Mitrovica to also vote and decide on the future of the city.

After voting, Tahiri said that November 9 is an important day for Mitrovica.

“It is an important day for the city of Mitrovica, for its citizens. The citizens of Mitrovica are expressing their free will today and deciding on the future governance for the next four years… I call on all citizens of Mitrovica to exercise their right to vote freely today and decide on the future of our citizens and our city,” he said.

While stating that the election process in the municipality is going well today, Tahiri added that there was pressure last night until the early hours of the morning, and the competent authorities are handling these cases.

“It is true that there have been attempts to create tension and pressure, even last night until the early morning there were movements of vehicles that were reported to the police; most of them were with 01. This is part of the matter that I believe the competent authorities have addressed and are addressing. I trust the Kosovo Police, I trust the competent authorities, and I believe there will be free elections… Based on the information I have, everything has been in order,” he said.

The second round of elections is being held in 18 municipalities across the country.
