In the Municipality of Shtime, the inaugural session of the Municipal Assembly was held, where the re-elected mayor, Qemajl Aliu, and 21 assembly members took their oaths.

Aliu officially began his second term today as mayor of the Municipality of Shtime, after winning the local elections on October 12, 2025. During the oath-taking ceremony, he said that this day is special because, according to him, citizens have once again confirmed their will for the continuation of good governance focused on concrete results.

Aliu recalled the promises he made in 2021, stating that many of those commitments have now become implemented projects. He emphasized that Shtime has become a more developed place, better for working, higher quality in education, and healthier to live in. According to him, the municipality’s debts have been cleared, municipal transparency has increased to 100 percent, and the municipality has won local and international awards for good governance.

“Today is a memorable day because citizens have once again confirmed their will that good governance and the continuation of good work should be a priority. I am happy to emphasize that the promise made in 2021, right here in this hall, is now a reality, and Shtime has become a more developed place, better for work, a higher-quality environment for education, and a healthier place to live. The trust we received in 2021 has turned into concrete work and results. In addition to paying off many debts, we changed the governance mindset, returned governance to the citizens, increased municipal transparency to 100%, and also won local and international awards for excellent local governance,” Aliu said.

During his speech, the mayor announced that the municipality will add 60 new commitments to its work program, which, according to him, fulfill the vision of a fair, just, and developed Shtime.

“All the good and major work of the first term, with the unwavering trust of the citizens, will now be complemented with 60 new commitments, which fulfill our vision for a fair, just, and developed Shtime... This trust is both an honor and a responsibility, and it obliges us to continue the good work in service of every citizen... To be honest, the assembly in the previous term was more obstructive and blocking than focused on the interests and priorities of the citizens. I hope this will never happen again, and I invite each of you to work together for better days for our successors, who will feel proud of the grandparents who fought for independence and freedom and for us who worked to keep their legacy alive, for freedom, justice, and a better future,” he said.

In conclusion, Aliu thanked all citizens for their trust and promised that his governance will continue to be transparent, cooperative, and results-oriented.

The session was chaired by the eldest assembly member, Haqif Arifi.
