Kosovo Customs has uncovered a case of incorrect declaration of goods during a customs inspection at the Customs Office in Prizren.

According to the announcement, during the examination of an imported shipment, relevant authorities found discrepancies between the customs declaration and the actual contents of the goods.

“The goods were declared as candles, but after a physical inspection it was confirmed that they were fireworks,” the statement says.

It is further stated that, in addition to the incorrect tariff classification, it was also determined that the goods in question require a license for the import of explosive materials, in accordance with the applicable legislation.

According to preliminary estimates, the evasion of customs and tax obligations as a result of the incorrect declaration amounts to over 2,500 euros.

A procedure for a customs misdemeanor has been initiated under the provisions of the Customs and Excise Code.

Kosovo Customs remains committed to combating inaccurate declarations, protecting public safety, and ensuring the proper implementation of customs legislation.
