The failure to form the Kosovo government and the lack of funds from the US administration may cause delays in the implementation of the energy strategy. This was stated at a press conference by the Pristina Institute for Policy Studies (PIPS), on which the Third Monitoring Report on the Implementation of the Energy Strategy was published.

This report states that out of the 34 measures issued by the Kosovo Energy Strategy for the period 2023 and 2024, only 4 of them or 12.5% have been fully implemented, while 23 measures or 71.88% of them have been partially implemented, and 5 or 15.63% are not implemented.

For this period, the Energy Strategy defines 32 measures, divided into three main categories: Increasing system flexibility, Modernizing the network and reducing network losses, and rehabilitating existing electricity production capacities.

Researcher at PIPS, Diella Muqolli stated that the failure to form a government and the lack of funds from the European Administration could create delays in the implementation of the energy strategy.

“The failure to form the government may further delay the implementation of this strategy. And also the lack of funds from the US administration may lead to the stagnation of the implementation of the strategy,” she said.
