The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Fitore Pacolli, learned on Wednesday in London how the United Kingdom manages its water resources and protects itself from floods. She also shared Kosovo’s experiences on these issues during a meeting with Minister Mary Creagh from the United Kingdom’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The two ministers also discussed waste recycling.

“During the meeting, environmental challenges were discussed and experiences were exchanged regarding water management and flood protection. Special attention was also given to advancing waste recycling and the use of technology for the digital monitoring of national parks, with the aim of increasing efficiency in nature protection,” a statement from Kosovo’s ministry said.

The statement also noted that both sides expressed readiness to intensify cooperation between Kosovo and the United Kingdom in the field of the environment through the development of concrete projects that contribute to environmental protection and the improvement of citizens’ lives.

An interesting moment of the meeting was when Pacolli presented two gifts to her host, Creagh. She gave her a filigree artwork from the Center for the Promotion of Women’s Rights, which, according to the statement, “reflects the history of victims of sexual violence by Serbian forces during the last war in Kosovo,” as well as “some organic teas from the mountains of Kosovo, collected by Bliff.”
