Organizations that emerged from the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army have expressed disappointment over what they described as the lack of an invitation to be part of the solemn session of the Assembly of Kosovo dedicated to the KLA Epopee.
Through a reaction on Facebook, the War Veterans’ Organization of the KLA (OVL-KLA) said they feel offended and that it is paradoxical to speak about the glory of the KLA inside the Assembly hall while leaving outside the very people who created that history with their blood and sacrifice.
“It is unacceptable and deeply offensive that in a solemn session of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo dedicated to the KLA Epopee, representatives of the war categories are not invited at all.It is precisely those men and women who, with weapons in their hands, raised and defended the ideal of freedom, those who sacrificed everything for this state, who today were left outside a ceremony dedicated to their history and sacrifice. This is not only institutional negligence, but a direct disregard for the fighters, the families of the martyrs, the war invalids, and all those who carried the burden of the war for freedom on their shoulders.
It is paradoxical to speak about the glory of the Kosovo Liberation Army inside the Assembly hall while outside are left the very people who created that history with their blood and sacrifice. The categories that emerged from the war do not seek privileges, but the institutional respect that belongs to them. The history of the liberation war cannot be commemorated by excluding those who made that history,” their reaction states.
