The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, traveled to Washington D.C., at the invitation of the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to participate in the activity organized by the US Department of State for Women, Peace and Security which is held within the framework of the NATO Summit, on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of this military organization.

Appreciating Secretary Blinken's invitation, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo's involvement in such activities is of special importance, since it is the first time that Kosovo is involved in events within the NATO summit.

According to a press release from the Presidency, this enables the creation of new partnerships in Kosovo's journey towards NATO membership.

"Kosovo's involvement in the activity organized by Secretary Blinken dedicated to the Women, Peace and Security Agenda is a strong indicator of the growing role that Kosovo is playing in the advancement of this agenda at the global level and its commitment to the principles and values supported by NATO. During her stay in Washington D.C., President Osmani will also hold other activities and meetings where the strengthening of cooperation will be discussed with the aim of contributing to peace and security in our region and beyond," the communique says.

We remind you that the Office of the President has been selected among 3 global partners by the Office of Secretary Blinken to establish the regional Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Center of Excellence. The agreement for the establishment of this Center was signed by President Osmani and the Office of Secretary Blinken in April 2024, during the Forum for Women, Peace and Security. The NATO Summit in Washington D.C. serves as a platform for member states and partner states to cooperate on pressing global security issues and reaffirm their commitment to a more secure future.
