The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, awarded Presidential Medals to the Mothers of Srebrenica on the first day of the International Forum for Women, Peace, and Security.
Hada Hoxha, who received the medal from the President, said they have fought to reveal the truth to the entire world.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Foreign Minister, Elmedin Konaković, said that these women have endured the deepest human pain
"The Mothers of Srebrenica have become a global symbol of dignity and justice after one of Europe’s darkest chapters. Faced with an unimaginable loss, they refuse to remain silent. Instead of hatred, they choose dignity; instead of revenge, they choose the truth. Their courage continues to demand accountability and to inspire generations to stand against genocide and injustice. They are not just the voice of Srebrenica — they are the conscience of the world," he said."Srebrenica is an open wound in the conscience of the world. It is the symbol of a tragedy that shook the global conscience — yet still, it has not received the justice it deserves. There, more than 8,000 men and boys were mercilessly massacred by Serbian genocidal forces in just a few days, and this happened before the eyes of the world. The women — the mothers, sisters, and daughters — were left with a pain that never ends. In Kosovo, we deeply feel your pain, because we too experienced the same genocide, committed by the same aggressors. The list of massacres is long and painful," Osmani said.
The International Forum for Women, Peace, and Security is being held under the leadership of President Vjosa Osmani.
