Number of married couples in Kosovo drops

In the year 2024, a total of 17,863 marriages were registered (both within and outside Kosovo). Of these registered marriages, 16,075 took place within the territory of Kosovo, while 1,788 marriages were registered outside Kosovo, as reported by ​KosovaPress.

Compared to 2023, the total number of registered marriages (within and outside Kosovo) in 2024 was lower by 630, or 3.4%.

"The number of registered marriages within Kosovo in 2024 was lower by 903, or 5.3% compared to 2023, whereas the number of registered marriages outside Kosovo in 2024 increased by 273 or 18.0% compared to 2023," reads the announcement from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS).

According to KAS, the highest number of marriage cases was recorded among the age group 25–29 for men, with a total of 5,027 marriages or 31.3%, while for women, the age group 20–24 had the most with a total of 4,986 marriages, or 31% of the cases.
