“My First Job,” an employment opportunity for the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities
Members of the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities can now register on the platform "My First Job," where they can apply for positions in private companies and also report workplace discrimination, KosovaPress reports.
This opportunity is available only to individuals between the ages of 18 and 34.
Armanda Toska, Senior Employment Officer at the organization “Voice of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians” (VOAE), told
KosovaPress that this is a call for young people from these communities to begin their work experience. After six months, she said, they will receive formal employment contracts.
Toska added that 80 individuals will benefit from job placements this year.
“This is an opportunity and also a call for young people from the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities to be part of their first work experience through the ‘My First Job’ platform, to find their first job with a formal employment contract after a six-month work experience... All young people from these communities who meet the age criteria—from 18 to 34 years old—are eligible to apply and register on the platform... The number of beneficiaries will be around 80 for this year... We invite all businesses, private companies, to be part of the platform, to register, and why not, even be beneficiaries themselves… So far, from previous years, we’ve managed to attract around 120 businesses that have actively participated,” said Toska.
The platform was presented by one of its creators, Besart Vahia, who demonstrated how it can be used.
This is the third year that VOAE is enabling employment opportunities for this community.
