In an extraordinary session, the Assembly of Kosovo approved with 84 votes the statement supporting the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica.

The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Bahrim Shabani, while reading the content of the supporting statement, said that the Assembly of Kosovo highly appreciates the adoption of the resolution by the UN General Assembly of the United Nations for the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide.

Then, he proposed that the approval of this declaration be done without the second point.

Deputy Prime Minister Emilija Rexhepi said that the genocide of 29 years ago is one of the darkest moments in modern history.

Furthermore, Rexhepi proudly mentioned that the proposal to declare July 11 as the day of commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica was unanimously approved in the Government of Kosovo.

Rexhepi further said that the voice of the people of Kosovo condemns the genocide and supports peace, justice, truth and reconciliation between all the peoples in the Balkans.
