Missing for two weeks, nothing is still known about the fate of Bedri Rexhepi
The fate of Bedri Rexhepi, who has been missing since April 8, is still unknown. Although it has been two weeks since he disappeared under unknown circumstances, the Kosovo Police has no information on his whereabouts.
The only response to the media from this institution is that "the searches are ongoing", while every minute that passes makes it very difficult for his family, friends and colleagues who are worried about his fate.
Rexhepi does not have access to his mobile phone since April 8, at 9:30 p.m. His "Grand Shirok" car was found in the fields of the village of Janjeva in Lipjan, only one day after contacts with him were lost.
Kosovo Police has confirmed that there is nothing new regarding this case, KosovaPress has also contacted the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina, which for the same case has a suspect with the initials J.V. for whom one month detention has been ordered.
However, the spokesperson of the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina, Laureta Ulaj, has refused to provide any information in order not to damage the investigations that according to her are underway.
"Referring to the questions posed by you, we inform you that the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina is conducting investigations into this case. Therefore, due to the preservation of the integrity of this procedure, we cannot share additional information", said Ulaj.
On April 15, the Serious Crimes Department of this prosecution filed a request for detention on remand against the suspect J.V., on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of "Abduction".
The pre-trial judge of the Basic Court of Prishtina, after the hearing, approved the request of the Prosecution to order detention on remand against the defendant J.V. and the same has imposed the measure of detention for a period of one month, from 13.04.2021 until 13.05.2021, in accordance with Article 187 paragraph 1, subparagraphs 1 and 2, point 1.2.1, 1.2.2 and 1.2.3 of Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).
Defendant J.V., has been detained because there is a grounded suspicion that he is implicated in the abduction of B.R., so that on 08.04.2021, around 21:00, B.R. has disappeared in unknown circumstances and so far, his whereabouts and health condition are unknown, and on 09.04.2021 around 07:00, his car, type Jeep Grand Shirok, was found abandoned in the fields of the village of Janjeva in Lipjan. Also, the victim from 08.04.2021 around 21:30, does not have access to his mobile phone", it is stated in the decision of Court of Prishtina.
