Milk, eggs and honey prices rise in Kosovo
The price of milk, eggs and honey has increased by 5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year. According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, the general index of agricultural products has increased by 2.7 percent compared to the same period in 2023, KosovaPress reports.
“In Q4 2024, the price index of plant products has increased by 1.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023. The price index of livestock products has increased by 5 percent and the general index of agricultural products has increased by 2.7 percent compared to the same period in 2023,” the KAS report states.
The products that form the basis for the price index of agricultural products are divided into two main groups: plant products and livestock products.
Within crop products, prices are collected for the following groups: cereals, fodder crops, vegetables, potatoes and fruits.
Within livestock products, prices are collected for livestock and livestock products. Within livestock, prices are collected for four categories of animals: cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. These prices are based on the live weight of the animals. Within livestock products, prices are collected for: milk, eggs and honey. All prices are calculated in Euro and the units of measurement are in: kg, liter and piece.
