Metaj: With our current capacities, we have not managed to find the body – we requested the involvement of the KSF
The Emergency Management Agency (EMA) submitted a request yesterday for the deployment of search and rescue units from the Kosovo Security Force (KSF). These units have now joined the ongoing operation to locate a person suspected to have drowned on Sunday, July 27, in Lake Ujman.
The Director of EMA, Genc Metaj, stated on Tuesday, July 29, that with the current capacities, they have not managed to find the body of the individual — a 33-year-old man reported to have jumped from the bridge.
Until now, the search was conducted only by the Kosova Police and the Kosovo Search and Rescue Association. The KSF joined the operation on the third day of the search, following coordination with NATO’s mission in Kosovo, KFOR.
The Deputy Director of Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, expressed hope that the young man’s body will be found.
NATO’s mission in Kosovo, KFOR, has confirmed that it authorized the Kosovo Security Force to deploy search and rescue teams to Lake Ujman. According to the statement, the authorization was granted by Commander Enrico Barduani. / Sh. Pajaziti
