Men exercise "power" over women, four cases of murder as a result of domestic violence
Dozens of Kosovar women have been denied the right to life by their husbands and other family members since the post-war period. They are victims of their husbands or any other family member. One kills them, and many others do not protect them. As a result of the delayed state response to the protection of victims, men through violence and physical weapons "prove" their strength against women. Official records say that last year, four women lost their lives tragically as a result of domestic violence. For civil society, institutions with their non-intervention are promoting and legitimizing violence and killings against women. According to them, the punitive measures against the perpetrators of these acts have been toughened, but the killings are not stopping.
Calls for human rights, protests and marches, above all punishment of those accused of killing women, are not enough to raise awareness of basic human rights.
