Deputy minister in office, and also the head of the Vetëvendosje Movement branch in Skenderaj, Hysni Mehani, has been discharged from the Regional Hospital of Mitrovica, “Dr. Sami Haxhibeqiri”, where he had been receiving treatment following a physical assault that occurred on Thursday in a café in Skenderaj.

The news of his discharge was confirmed for KosovaPress by the hospital, stating that Mehani was released for home treatment before 09:00 in the morning.

Mehani had received medical treatment after sustaining facial and head injuries as a result of the beating. Due to his condition, he had stayed overnight in the Neurology ward, where he received the necessary treatment and was kept under medical supervision.

He has accused the mayor of Skenderaj, Sami Lushtaku, claiming that he, along with other individuals, was involved in the attack against him.

Meanwhile, Lushtaku has publicly reacted to these claims, denying the accusations.

“The government of Albin Kurti, through its mechanisms, tried today to attack me in Skenderaj. I have spent my life in service to the country, while labels such as ‘Sami Serbia’ are no longer tolerated by citizens, which is why they also reacted,” Lushtaku wrote, as reported by KosovaPress.

Regarding the case, the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica has announced that E.L. and B.N. have been detained for 48 hours, suspected of committing the criminal offense of “light bodily injury.”

According to the Prosecution, two other suspects with the initials S.L. and K.H. have, so far, not responded to the invitation for questioning.

Additionally, H.M. and B.Z. have been interviewed as victims, along with five witnesses in connection with the case.
