Mediation can serve to resolve labor dispute disputes
The resolution of labor disputes in Kosovo is mainly done by the courts, whereas civil judges are overloaded with various cases, which are not necessarily profiled only in labor disputes, thus causing delays in resolving the respective cases. The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo organized a virtual forum to discuss the topic of dispute resolution at work, where part of the panel discussion were representatives from the private sector, the Kosovo Judicial Council and the Supreme Court.
In the statement issued by the American Chamber of Commerce of Kosovo (ACC), it is stated that during this forum, the director of the legal department in the Kosovo Judicial Council, Astrit Hoti, spoke about the regulatory legislation on labor issues, while saying that disputes of this nature usually are complex and depend on the case. Referring to the statistics of settlement of labor relations cases within a year in the courts of Kosovo, Hoti said that the largest number of unresolved cases regarding these disputes is related to compensation issues.
