In order to ease the burden of citizens who have been hit by high inflation, the Democratic League of Kosovo is asking the Ministry of Finance to suspend the application of the last revaluation of properties in the country and tax invoices for the year 2023 be calculated according to evaluation made before 2022.

The LDK MP, Hykmete Bajrami, said that the doubling of the tax price is worrying, since the socio-economic circumstances were not taken into account.

Bajrami has asked the Ministry of Finance to proceed as soon as possible in the Assembly with the new law on property tax, as well as the postponement of the implementation of the amendment to the property law.

She says that this ministry, namely the property tax department, in cooperation with the municipalities during 2023, should conduct a complete review of the property re-evaluation process after determining the areas that take into account the development of settlements and cadastral plots. This is because during the re-evaluation of the properties made in 2022, the old areas were used, as well as the sub-areas were completely ignored, since the system of the Property Tax Department has failed.
