We are thrilled to announce the start of the project “Countering Negative Stereotypes about the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian Communities in Kosovo through a Media Initiative.” This project, supported by the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), is implemented by the Center for Innovation and Development (CFID) in collaboration with the KosovaPress news agency.

This project aims to strengthen the capacities of young people from these communities by equipping them with the skills needed to challenge negative stereotypes. Through the creation of media stories, they will foster a positive, inclusive, and non-discriminatory narrative.

Six young individuals from the Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities will participate in a three-month professional training program at KosovaPress, where they will develop skills in fields such as Journalism, Production, and Videography.

Upon completing the training, these young individuals will have the opportunity to join various media editorial offices in Kosovo as paid interns. This practical experience will further develop their skills and allow them to actively contribute to creating content that encourages fair and positive perceptions of their communities.

This project represents a significant step towards a more equal and inclusive future in Kosovo.
