Kosovo Prime Minister candidate of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, declared victory in the June 7 elections and expressed readiness to cooperate with other political parties that had until now been in opposition. Addressing supporters at Skanderbeg Square, he said efforts would be made to resolve the issue of the presidency.
In his speech, Kurti said Kosovo lacks a functioning Assembly, criticizing opposition parties for blocking the process.
Kurti also said that with Vetëvendosje, citizens have a guarantee of good governance and that the state is in safe hands.
“Republic of Kosovo lacks an Assembly. Unfortunately, the opposition bloc is not going to work. The rest of us will all go to work tomorrow morning at 8:00. We are interested in seeing the opposition bloc return to work as soon as possible. Therefore, we hope that the 11th legislature will begin its mandate, and that depends first and foremost on the certification of the results. Naturally, in the weeks ahead, we will communicate, meet and cooperate with all political entities in the Republic of Kosovo because, above all, we are guided by the public interest, the general will, and the sovereign and independent Republic of Kosovo, which we serve with dedication. Count on us not only for the work we do, but also for the cooperation we will build,” he said.He said there has been no challenge that his government has not overcome, even when success appeared impossible.
“Congratulations on yet another victory. In less than seven years, this is Vetëvendosje’s fifth victory in parliamentary elections. We won in 2019, 2021, twice in 2025, and we have won again in 2026. This is further confirmation that at least this decade belongs to Vetëvendosje’s governance. Even in these fifth elections in less than seven years, it was proven that everyone competes, most people vote, and we win. We combine state and border security with the welfare of the state and its citizens. There is no difficulty that we have not overcome, and even when something seemed impossible, we managed to achieve it,” Kurti said.
In comparison, in the December 28 elections, Vetëvendosje had secured 51 percent of the vote.
