Kosovo's Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has issued clarifications regarding a road project in Ferizaj. According to the ministry, the road section from the bridge in the city of Ferizaj to the motorway entrance was implemented by the Municipality of Ferizaj. The municipality prepared the project, conducted the procurement procedures, and supervised the construction works, while the ministry provided the funding.

"The project drafted by the municipality did not include a roundabout in Bibaj, public lighting along the road, landscaping, or the widening of the road at the motorway exit. The minister invited the municipality to a meeting and requested explanations, while also calling for a temporary solution until the ministry completes a redesign of the project, which will address all the shortcomings of the current plan," the ministry said.

According to the statement, the municipality recommended installing a temporary roundabout, which it said had been tested through simulations. However, the situation on the ground has shown that the solution is not working as intended and is causing long traffic queues.

"Since the municipality is responsible for supervising this project, we call on it to urgently assess the situation and take the necessary measures to ease congestion and restore normal traffic flow," the statement added.

The ministry also said it will take responsibility for redesigning this section of the road and, through the revised project, address all identified problems and shortcomings.
