Kosovo’s MFA and Diaspora calls for international engagement for the release of Llozhani, arrested in Serbia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora announces that immediately after receiving information about the arrest of Kosovo citizen Mitehat Llozhani, who was detained upon entering Serbia at the Batrovci border crossing near Croatia, all institutional measures were promptly taken.
According to the statement, the Liaison Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Serbia submitted an official request to the Liaison Office of Serbia in Kosovo, seeking confirmation of the arrest, clarification of the specific reasons for the detention, as well as any other relevant information for further handling of the case.
“Additionally, the Liaison Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Serbia has informed the European Union Delegation in Serbia about the case and sent verbal notes to the diplomatic missions of the Quint countries accredited in Serbia, aiming to secure the engagement of international partners in protecting the rights and safety of the Kosovo citizen. The Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Serbia, Mr. Jetish Jashari, is in continuous contact with the family of the detainee and, through the Liaison Office, will proceed with the submission of an official request to allow a visit to citizen Llozhani. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora calls on the International Community to increase pressure on the authorities of Serbia, which continue the practice of mistreating and arresting citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, thereby violating international norms and standards for human rights,” the statement reads.
