The Central Election Commission (KQZ) has announced that 142,802 voters from abroad have applied for the early elections on 7 June, of which 131,901 applications have been approved, while 10,906 have been rejected.
The Director of the KQZ Secretariat, Besnik Buzhala, said at Tuesday’s meeting that the review of all requests was completed yesterday, while the legal deadline for administrative complaints expires today.
“On 6 May, the registration period for voters outside Kosovo began. This period ended on 17 May 2026. During this period, a total of 142,802 voters applied for registration. 131,801 voters were approved, while 10,906 were rejected. Meanwhile, 96 requests were cancelled following voters’ requests to be returned to the voter list inside Kosovo. The review of all requests was completed yesterday, and therefore the legal deadline for administrative complaints expires today at 20:32,” he said.Meanwhile, the KQZ also approved the addresses of postal boxes for postal voting from outside Kosovo.
The postal boxes are operational in 22 countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, Canada, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, the United Kingdom, Norway, the United States, Albania, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey, and Switzerland. The member of the Vetëvendosje Movement in the KQZ, Alban Krasniqi, said that one of the reasons for the visits carried out by KQZ teams was to assess the capacity and the way envelopes are collected that arrive at these post office boxes.“The relevant department has submitted the addresses of the post office boxes, which are the same for voting from abroad. Only in two countries have they been changed, where they will be made public for voters, and as such we recommend them for voting. One of the reasons for the visits we carried out a few days ago was to assess the capacity and the way envelopes are collected that arrive at these post office boxes. All necessary information has been obtained and operational plans have been made by the KQZ and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MPJD), who together will be engaged in the process of collecting and then sending the envelopes that will be gathered at these postal addresses,” said Buzhala.
