Kosovo receives drones purchased from the United States
Kosovo has received AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) purchased from the United States of America, announced Acting Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci.
Maqedonci stated on Facebook that the delivery took place last week, while the purchase was made through a state-to-state program.
“The Ministry of Defense procured the Puma unmanned aerial vehicles from the USA through the state-to-state program known as Foreign Military Sale (FMS). Payment for this system was made in 2021. The Puma drones, alongside other UAVs, represent an additional capability necessary to enhance the KSF’s capacities in the field of unmanned aerial systems,” Maqedonci wrote on Monday, September 8.
He added that cooperation with the USA in the field of defense is deepening and “continues to expand, contributing to the development of our army as well as achieving the shared interests of our two countries.”
The Kosovo Security Force is in the process of transformation, which began in 2018. The transition phase is planned to last ten years.
