Eevamari Laaksonen, the Finnish ambassador to Kosovo, said she feels “happy” that Finland has been named the happiest country in the world for the ninth consecutive time, and that Kosovo has also ranked highly in the 2026 World Happiness Report.
Although Finns are not “the happiest people in the world,” for Laaksonen, happiness does not come from big moments, but from “equality, security, and the fact that society functions.” According to her, it is also connected to enjoying simple moments in nature.
“These are the values that bring our societies and countries closer together,” the ambassador emphasized while welcoming Kosovo’s position on the list.Kosovo was ranked as the 16th happiest country in the world by the annual report measuring global happiness, and it ranks first in the region. This marks a rise on the list, as in 2025 it was ranked 29th.
