The replacement of the artificial obstacles that have been placed on the road to the Deçan monastery since the arrival in the area by units belonging to the KFOR mission, was a decision taken by KFOR in agreement with the local authorities.

The KFOR press release, states that they consider it necessary to replace the old obstacles with new ones, in order to ensure a continued, effective level of protection and safety - as required by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, which mandates KFOR to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo - while at the same time ensuring the highest degree of respect for the surrounding environment.
