Including the Istanbul Convention in the Constitution of Kosovo is being considered as an important step in dealing with cases of gender-based violence, however, its implementation is considered a challenge.

The Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, known as the Istanbul Convention, is the most advanced international treaty to address such serious human rights violations.
