For three consecutive days in a private session, the testimony of the first witness in the trial against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi was heard in The Hague. However, this decision of the judging panel is being criticized by experts and monitors of this judicial process who are considering that these actions of the Special Court speak of a lack of transparency in this trial.

From the associations that emerged from the KLA war, they say that this court, which makes decisions "in the name of the people", does not allow the people to hear a single word from the testimonies of the witnesses. According to them, no witness has to be afraid and hide.

Lawyer Florim Shefqeti states that taking into account the security measures for the protection of the identity and personality of the anonymous witness, the Kosovar public should not have been deprived of hearing the witness's interrogation.
