Although fireworks can be considered as a symbol of the end of the year holidays, it is recommended that they be used as little as possible, due to the danger they can cause.

During the end-of-year holidays, different age groups, including children, use pyrotechnic tools for fun.

For this year, more than 170 thousand kilograms of pyrotechnic tools of various types have been imported through Kosovo Customs, whereas security experts request that their use be as little as possible.

In a statement for KosovaPress, security expert Avni Islami says that citizens' awareness should be increased as the damage and risk to their health from the use of pyrotechnic tools is great.

He asks that children do not use pyrotechnics, while adults must also be careful about the place where they use them.

Also the air specialist at the Hydrometeorological Institute (IHM), Shkumbin Shala, says that as a result of the explosion of pyrotechnic devices, the pollution exceeds three times the normal air values.

He shows that thousands of dust particles containing polluting gases such as coal, sulfate, nitrates and other elements are released during the explosion of fireworks.

Shala says that December 31 or January 1 record air pollution record values within the calendar year. He calls for fireworks to be used as little as possible, so as not to pollute the air.

In an email response, Kosovo Customs announces that during this year, around 171,000 kilograms of pyrotechnics were imported, mainly from China.

Otherwise, the use of pyrotechnic tools has caused various bodily injuries, which have been reported by the emergency service almost every year on New Year's Eve. /Z. Zeneli/
