Violence among students in Kosovo schools remains a worrying phenomenon. The results of the police action in Ferizaj again opened the debate to do more about security in and around school institutions. Organizations and experts on education issues hold institutions responsible for violence due to negligence and lack of psychologists, whereas the Ministry of Education says it has set up the National Forum for Friendly Schools to prevent cases of violence in schools.

In a written response from the Kosovo Police, it is stated that only in the first five months of 2022, 288 different cases of violence in schools were reported. “For the period January - May 2022, 288 cases/incidents were reported in and around schools in the country. The most frequent reported cases include: 'Mild bodily injury', 'Property damage', 'Theft' and others", reads the police response...
