Members of the Committee on Budget have criticized the board of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), for what they said was the degradation of this public broadcaster. In the meeting that lasted more than two hours, the board of RTK emphasized that they are endangered by old debts.

During the review of the annual financial report for the past year, the chairman of the RTK Board, Besnik Boletini, said that the total debts for 2023 and this year are over 255 thousand euros that were taken by private bailiffs.

Boletini added that when they received the mandate, they had 1.6 million euros of inherited debts, while now the total debt is about 850 thousand euros.

The general director of RTK, Shkumbin Ahmetxhekaj, spoke about the number of employees, where he emphasized that there are over 744 regular workers, for which he emphasized that the number was much larger.

For this, there was criticism from the MP of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, who said that the focus should be on program quality.

The chairman of the RTK board, Besnik Boletini, emphasized that the program quality has increased despite the number of workers.

LDK MP Avdullah Hoti responded to the members of the RTK board, where he said that the revenues have been halved and that this board has degraded this institution.

The Committee on Budget did not have a quorum to review the budget request of the Assembly of Kosovo for 2025, based on the first budget circular of the Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfers. /Sh. Pajaziti
