The European Union’s measures against Kosovo will be lifted when all member states agree and after ongoing discussions. This was stated by the head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Aivo Orav, during his visit to the mayor of Prizren, Shaqir Totaj. Stating that the European Union is not complete without the Western Balkan countries joining, he was asked what Kosovo must do to join.

Ambassador Orav added that Kosovo must fulfill the conditions or “homework”.

“I think it has been said many times by many levels of the EU that the EU is not complete before all Balkan countries join. My sincere hope is that this will happen as soon as possible. But, this means that Kosovo has to do a lot of ‘homework’… What is needed to lift the measures against Kosovo is the consensus of the 27 EU states and then there are full discussions that are still in progress”, said Orav.

Orav also held separate meetings with the leaders of political parties in Kosovo on Tuesday. He mentioned that the citizens of Kosovo want EU membership, which the Government must work to achieve.
